The IRS power of attorney (form 2848) is a document that transfers one individual’s (the principal) specified powers to another person (the agent) for the latter to be a representative before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The majority of taxpayers most likely had already seen the form as it is filled each time one has to register their taxes. Nevertheless, be careful with every box and line while filling in.

Stage 1 – Filling the Principal’s Information
